Day 1

Meet at La Aurora International Airport and transfer to La Antigua Guatemala for accommodations.

Day 2

Tour of La Antigua Guatemala. Get to know the story of the conquest by Pedro de Alvarado, how the city of Santiago de los Caballeros was founded in 1524, and how he ventured in El Salvador’s territory to found the Villa of San Salvador one year later.
Overnight in La Antigua Guatemala.

Day 3

Departure for San Salvador by land. Guided visit to the capital, including its history and the origins of the independence of Central America.  You will get to visit places and learn about the history of important people who built the country. Overnight in San Salvador.

 

Day 4

Part of the history you will get to know is found an hour from the capital city. Suchitoto and its surroundings, guard secrets of the colony, pre-Columbian times, and the republican period. Overnight in Suchitoto.

Day 5

The archaeological site “Ciudad Vieja” or “Antigua Villa de San Salvador” is the first Spanish settlement founded in our territory. You will learn how the indigo was a productive activity during the colony, and will also visit an indigenous archaeological site. Overnight in Suchitoto.

Day 6

Arrival at the colonial city of Gracias in Honduras, where in 1544 the “Audiencia de los Confines” was established as the highest Spanish administrative authority in the territories of the present southern states of Mexico to Nicaragua, but a few years later, it was transferred to La Antigua Guatemala. Overnight in Gracias.

Day 7

Visit to the military fortress located at the top of San Cristobal hill, from where you have a complete view of the city of Gracias. The displayed cannons were brought from San Fernando de Omoa Fortress. Finish with a tour of the city to learn more about our history. Overnight in Gracias.

Day 8

Depart for San Pedro Sula. Free afternoon. Overnight in San Pedro Sula.

Day 9

Depart for El Castillo, a Spanish compound partially constructed with remains of coral reefs. The president of the “Real Audiencia de Guatemala” informed King Carlos II that it was necessary to fortify the site to prepare for pirates and buccaneers. Overnight in San Pedro Sula.

Day 10

Transfer to Ramón Villeda Morales International Airport.

Activities included

Transportation, entrance fee to the different places to visit; tours and guide according to itinerary.
Breakfasts, water during vehicle transfers.
Trip insurance.

Valid Passport for at least 6 months, yellow fever vaccine for people traveling from some South American and African countries. Check if you need a visa.
