Monteverde Cloud Forest
Discover one of the natural gems of Costa Rica
The Monteverde Cloud Forest is one of the natural gems of Costa Rica, since it is one of the forests of this type that still exist in the world, and also one of the best known internationally for the scientific research produced in the area. It is located in the Sierra de Tilarán, between the provinces of Puntarenas and Alajuela. In addition, it forms a biological corridor with the Arenal Volcano National Park called “Arenal-Monteverde Cloud Forest Complex.”
Monteverde is home to 2.5% of the world’s biodiversity, and approximately 10% of its flora is endemic. The town of Santa Elena offers a variety of hotels and restaurants, as well as a wide range of activities, both adventure and recreation, including a new activity that involves climbing trees with ropes rappel style, canyoning, zip lines, and hiking in the various private reserves of the area.
