Santa Rosa de Copán
NATIONAL HISTORIC MONUMENT
Santa Rosa de Copán is located in Honduras‘ most mountainous area, where you can enjoy that perfect combination of pines and roof tiles.
Santa Rosa de Copán, offers you unique experiences in their coffee farms, where you can appreciate and learn from the wonderful art of its production process. Culinary traditions such as the Baked Chanchita, the Ticucos and Totopostes have been passed from generation to generation. It is also recognized by the famous Timoshenko, a type of coffee liqueur. The central plaza or “El Parque” is a space where locals and visitors can enjoy cultural events where music and gastronomy are part of the entertainment nights. The House of Culture, emblematic center with decades of serving the city, has rooms for artistic exhibitions, a theater, a school of dance and ballet, and a drawing and painting academy.
Santa Rosa de Copán is a very welcoming city, a lover of cultural activities, and with a tradition that has transcended the national borders, such as the manufacture of artisanal cigars, the result of the production of tobacco in the adjacent valleys. In 1765, this beautiful community was chosen as a tobacco collection center for its high quality, and “The Real Tobacco Factory” was founded. Thus, if you are a good tobacco lover, you cannot miss seeing the art of hand rolling, and smelling the fragrance of a Copán Flower.
