Tegucigalpa is currently the city of greatest buoyancy in the country, given that it is the political and administrative center. The city’s historic center features churches from the colonial era and emblematic buildings which construction dates back to the beginning of the 20th century.

The city has a series of natural viewpoints such as the United Nations Park, known as El Picacho, which dominates the entire city; the Manuel Bonilla Park; the La Leona ParkCerro El BerrincheCerro Juana LaínezCerro de Hula, south of the city; and, La Montañita, to the east. This is the reason why, Tegucigalpa is also known as Ciudad de los Cerros de Plata.

In Tegucigalpa, you can also visit the Minor Basilica of the Virgin of Suyapa, patron saint of the Hondurans. The city limits to the north with the La Tigra National Park, located just 11 kilometers from Tegucigalpa, with a maximum height of 2,290 meters above sea level. La Tigra is the first cloud forest in Honduras, an excellent place for bird watching, including the quetzal. The park has a total of 34 bird families with 171 species, 42 of which are only found in cloud forests, and 27 migratory species that use the area during their migration.

To the south of the city you can visit picturesque towns such as Ojojona and Santa Ana, where many crafts are offered. Continuing to the east, the town of Santa Lucia is nestled in the middle of the mountain, with an intricate topography that gives it that special touch. His church holds the image of the Cristo de las Mercedes, inherited by King Felipe II. It is also recommended to visit Valle de Ángeles, which has become a center and an artisanal market, preserving the flavor of the towns that everyone wants to enjoy, as well as San Juancito, built at the base of the mountain with the characteristics of a mining town.
