Acatenango Volcano

Its name means walled place and is located between the departments of Chimaltenango and Sacatepéquez, near the municipalities of Acatenango, La Antigua Guatemala and San Miguel Dueñas, approximately 62 or 65 kilometers southwest of the capital city. It is the third highest volcano in the country and has two summits; the north summit is called Yepocapa or Tercera María and is 3,800 meters above sea level. The south summit is the main peak and is called El Plato or Bonete and is 3,976 meters above sea level. It is the twin brother of Volcán de Fuego.
The ascent to the Acatenango volcano is for those who want to push themselves to the limit of endurance and experience nature.
