Biomuseum
8 galleries on biodiversity, fauna and oceans
Geologically speaking, the Isthmus of Panama was formed only a short time ago, but its appearance literally changed the world. While a great ocean split in two, changing ocean currents and climate, two great continental masses joined together, bringing about an unprecedented exchange of flora and fauna. To learn more about Panama’s unique impact on the world’s biodiversity, as well as the country’s commitment to environmental protection, be sure to visit the Biomuseo. The striking and colorful building was designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry, the mastermind behind some iconic structures around the world, such as the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, and the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris. The Biomuseo is Gehry’s first design in Latin America.
