The famous Nicaraguan poet Ruben Dario, lived for more than 14 years in the beautiful city of León of neoclassical style, Gothic, Baroque and colonial that inspired him when writing his beautiful poems.

And is that the streets of León witnessed the precocious feelings of Rubén Darío and made the world's eyes focus on him, being considered "Prince of Castilian letters."

His remains rest today in the beautiful cathedral of Leon built 250 years ago, which is a jewel in its ecclesial, historical, social, anthropological, political, cultural and artistic context, in accordance with its cosmic conception the structure is divided into three floors: the underworld (lower level), the world (middle floor) and heaven (upstairs).

But in Leon, not only stands out its fabulous cathedral but you can also enjoy visiting the 16 churches in the city, of which 11 belong to the colonial era.

We also invite you to come to the house where the famous poet lived as it is exposed as a museum showing the colonial style of the house.

Location:

Located west of the country bordered to the north with the departments of Chinandega and Esteli, and to the south with the department of Managua and to the west by the Pacific Ocean.

Getting There:

To go from Managua to Leon you can take the new road to Leon, which is in perfect condition, and will get you there in approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour.
